They've recently changed the rules on tattoo and piercing exclusions so that if you got one in a state-regulated shop you're good to go. There are 32 states that regulate, Oregon is one of them!

I also just signed up to be a marrow donor; I'm now waiting on my tissue typing kit. The only reason I hadn't joined before now is that I hadn't gotten around to checking how to go about it. Here's the link to where you can sign up: http://www.marrow.org/ (Just in case you are like me about getting around to things :)

In other news life is still damn good here - though I'm already about 300 pages of reading behind in school. Going to be a long weekend ;p

I've been getting questions and today I *finally* got something official from John. Mark off May 29th. might as well toss in the 30th for recovery, you'll probably need it :)

WHAT: The 17th Bi-Annual World Tour of Funk. Your favorite charitable night of drunken semi-anonymous escapades through the streets of Northwest Portland . With t-shirts and nametags.

After months of public debate, this year’s BAWTOF will not be a Team Competition. The past 4 years of organized team shenanigans has been nothing short of epic, but the BAWTOF Ethics Committee’s year-long investigation in to last year’s competition has put a temporary stop to the format. However- non-sanctioned organization of drinking clubs and individual stupidity is still highly encouraged. After all, what would BAWTOF be without blasphemous clergy impersonators, fake weddings, space pirates, pseudo-celebrities, serial killers, freelance amateur prostitutes, and public nudity? I shudder to think…

WHEN: Friday, May 29th. Later than usual- to avoid a holiday weekend and to improve our chances of good weather. In related event news, Ben Folds will be playing Portland on May 15th. No word on whether or not Fauxby Moby (ZDDY) will be making a triumphant return to the Casio keyboard or not, but there’s always a chance.

WHERE: Northwest Portland, as usual. The officially sanctioned itinerary will be published after final negotiations with our faithful sponsor (Pabst) and hearings with the Portland City Council.

WHO: Charitable drunks, happy drunks, fun drunks, yearbook drunks, sake bomb enthusiasts, dudes with ironic facial hair, faithful contributors to www.textsfromlastnight.com, women with unfortunate facial hair, animatronic monkeys, and even the obligatory kind non-drunks. We try to keep this event as d-bag free as possible, so if your idea of a good time is to pick fights and threaten to bite people’s noses off……this ain’t your cup of tea.

WHY: Face it… you need an excuse to drink with friends and strangers on a Friday night like Chuck Bass needs an excuse to wear an ascot and yellow pants. But….. never fear- just because the team competition is gone doesn’t mean we stopped raising money for charity (Cystic Fibrosis). We are still selling tees and taking donations. BAWTOF’s Global Creative Director (THOR) came up with a gem of a tee design this year. And for the first time since BAWTOF 7, they are black tees! You can check out the design on the BAWTOF Facebook page (search BAWTOF 17) or on the donation page.

Purchasing tees is easy- all you need to do is donate $20 (or more) to our CF Great Strides team- via the website: (http://www.cff.org/great_strides/JohnNaekel)- and put your t-shirt size(s) in the comments field. I’ll get you your tees as soon as they are available. Or feel free to make a check out to the CF Foundation. I’ll help you with company matching, as well.

24 days until BAWTOF 17…..( To quote Winger: “she’s only 17. Daddy says she’s too young, but she’s old enough for me”. I’m generally not one to compare pub crawls to 80’s hair metal songs openly dedicated to inappropriate love with underage girls, but I find it impossible to keep this song out of my head any time I hear the word “seventeen”. If you have a spare moment, I encourage you to bathe in the greatness that is Kip Winger and his ridiculous tank top: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GlN3oEjMpUQ)

Stay tuned,
John Wayne Naeke
Chairman/Founder
The Bi-Annual World Tour of Funk

PS- Why CF? Most of you know, but some of you don't. Here's the short version of the story:

Brian "Homey" Craig was my best friend and roommate, as well as a BAWTOF legend from its early inception. Brian lived with CF since birth, finally claiming his life in September of 2003. Brian was 26. Since then, the Spring edition of BAWTOF has been dedicated to raising money for Cf's Great Strides event in the name of Homey. In our first effort (BAWTOF 7), we were able to contribute roughly $650 to the cause. To date, BAWTOF has raised over $15,000 for CF.

If you want to learn more about Cystic Fibrosis, and the Foundation, go to www.cff.org. It's a disease that everyone should be aware of, particularly anyone planning on starting a family. Ask your Doctor about being tested for the CF gene- and learn the facts. And please don't hesitate to contact me if you have any other questions about the CF Foundation or if you're interested in getting more involved.

In other news I am about half unpacked and currently freaking about about the school projects I have 4-ish weeks to finish. Holy Shit Y'All.

So we made it down to San Jose after a lot of strange and fortuitous things came together. After Rob (who is officially my hero today) drove all the way out to Hillsboro to get me Our flight out got canceled about 5 minutes before we made it to the front of the line to check in. The line we'd been standing in for well over an hour. I let Rob deal with it because my cranky factor kicked in a little at that point and I was in no mood to be nice. He was kind and understanding with the woman at the counter and after trying 15 different ways to get us seats to the Bay area she finally found two seats for us - PDX to seattle to Oakland. Counter intuitive but what the hell - it was a way down so we took it. The flight to Seattle was delayed 2 hours, then delayed 2 more hours - and then canceled. As we were heading up to the counter to find out what, if anything, to try next they were calling final boarding for a flight to Oakland that had been totally full when we first checked in. They were calling several names along with the announcement so we figured there must have been people who hadn't made the flight. Rob somehow managed to get the attention of one of the people at the counter to ask if that was the case and then managed to get us switched and less than five minutes after our Seattle flight was canceled we were rushing out to catch the plane. We literally got the last two seats and his mom drove the hour to Oakland to pick us up.

The downside, our luggage had no chance of making it, so we've made a small trip to target for necessities and are crossing our fingers that the luggage makes it tomorrow. But given the alternative of still being among those trying to find a flight out I'd take this one every time. especially since there was yet another storm forecasted to come in to Portland overnight.

So in short, we made it :) And just in case I'm not back on here before then - Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah and have a wonderful holiday however you choose to celebrate it. *HUGS*
